Are You Ready for a Single-Family Home?

Community SpotlightDevelopmentsExpert SeriesLifestyleProject Spotlight

There is nothing more stressful or exciting than purchasing your first home. For many people, it is a time of adventure but for others, it can be scary deciding whether or not you’re ready.

Here are some reasons to consider purchasing a single-family home.

1. Space – If you’re an expanding family or have children, a townhome or condo won’t provide the same space as a single-family home – not only inside but also outside. Condos and townhomes rarely come with a yard. A single-family home is situated on its own lot with its own yard.

2. Privacy – A single-family home is the most private residency, you will not share any walls with your neighbours (unless you have a rental suite in your house, which is a bonus source of income). You will have your own yard and won’t have to worry about neighbours using your space.

3. Long Term Investment – Single-family homes are the longest investment you will make in your life, and generally, you can sell your home for a profit if it is well maintained.

4. Variety – A single-family home offers more variety than a townhouse or condo. If you want a specific number of bathrooms or bedrooms, a playroom or a walk-in pantry there are options that will include your preferences. There is also more variety in the floorplan which means that finding a layout that suits your needs is higher than the standardized layouts for condos or townhomes.

If you’re interested in starting your single-family home search in Saskatoon or surrounding areas, come talk to us at North Ridge and we can discuss your options and help find your forever home.

Community Spotlight: Brighton

Community SpotlightDevelopmentsExpert SeriesLifestyleProject Spotlight

If you’re looking for a community that is built on the principles of nature, relaxation, and connection, Brighton is the place for you.

The community of Brighton will be built to surround 81 acres of parkland, which includes 41 acres of protected wetlands. Nature is the unifying aspect of the entire neighbourhood. The layout of Brighton encourages its residents to practice green transportation by having pedestrian-friendly streets and easy access to public transportation.

Eventually, the neighbourhood will introduce the Brighton Marketplace which will include major amenities from restaurants to groceries to fitness. The idea of Brighton is that nothing is ever far away, because nobody enjoys driving 10 minutes just to get some coffee.

Located south of Highway 5, Brighton is a quick drive to the University of Saskatchewan and not much farther from the downtown area. Accessible from 8th Street and off of Highway 5 at McOrmond Drive, you can come check out the up and coming neighbourhood, we are certain you will fall in love. If that does happen, come talk to us about building your dream home in this unique community, or visit our Brighton show home.

It’s Buy Time: When to Purchase a New Home

Community SpotlightDevelopmentsExpert SeriesLifestyleProject Spotlight

When it comes to buying new builds, the first thing you need to think about is when you want to move in. At North Ridge Development, we have two options for newly built homes, quick possession homes and developing homes.

Quick possession homes are move-in ready, they’re entirely built and just waiting for a family to move in and fill the rooms with love and laughter. If you have a short timeline, you may not be able to wait for a developing home which means that your options will be fewer, but you won’t have to wait very long.

Developing homes are in progress, whether that be in the planning stage or actual building process. The timelines with developing homes are usually quite a bit longer than with quick possession homes because they are not yet move-in ready. If you are willing to wait or if you have a longer timeline, developing homes allow you to be more involved in the development of your home.

So, when you’re looking at purchasing a new home, think about your expected move-in date and once you’ve determined how long you need you can narrow down the type of home you can/want to purchase. From there, you choose between our move-in ready or homes in progress and begin the journey of finding your dream home in Saskatoon, Martensville, Warman or Dalmeny.
